The Department of Chemistry offers the following Bachelor Programs:
Bioanalytical Chemistry (B.S.)
The degree program provides an interdisciplinary background in bioanalytical principles and methods, and applications of analytical chemistry for detection, characterization, and quantification of bioactive molecules in biological systems. Opportunities to conduct undergraduate research are available to help you gain a competitive edge.
Learn the basic science of chemistry, as well as the practical aspects of the discipline and its numerous applications. Opportunities to participate in original research projects provide experiences for entrance into graduate school or training for chemistry-related careers.
Computational Chemistry and Biochemistry (B.S.)
Chemical and biochemical science, computational techniques, and data science are covered in this program. Opportunities are available to conduct undergraduate research at the Pauling Computer Lab, designed for computational biochemistry, computer-aided drug design, quantum chemistry, and molecular modeling and simulation.
Environmental Chemistry (B.S.)
Gain the technical skills to work in environmental science, environmental analytical chemistry, hydrologic science, atmospheric science, environmental toxicology, or environmental health science. Chicago’s only tech-focused university offers opportunities to conduct biosensor technology research with chemistry faculty.
Forensic Chemistry (B.S.)
Gain a strong background in both traditional chemistry and chemical, biochemical, and instrumental techniques for analysis, detection, and characterization of forensic and controlled substances. Gain systematic training in chemical science and chemical, biochemical, and instrumental analysis for forensic application.
Medicinal Chemistry (B.S.)
Build a strong background in traditional chemistry as well as a fundamental understanding of the chemical, biological and pharmacological actions of pharmaceuticals and biomedical products. Practice hands-on techniques taking lab courses customized for industrial needs along with standard lecture-based courses.
