Community and Social Care: Policy and Practice BA (HONS)

If you want to make a difference in your community, this applied degree will help you develop a wider understanding of social welfare, social exclusion and disadvantage. You’ll get to grips with the policy and systems of service delivery, issues of power and oppression and social justice, as well as community development and human and social needs, all with an emphasis on delivering strength based practice. In your second and third years you can choose from a wide range of modules to suit your interests and ambitions, including social enterprise, homelessness, race and ethnicity, mental health, people with learning disabilities, disability studies, youth studies, social pedagogy, safeguarding and substance misuse.

 

Community and Social Care: Policy and Practice BA (HONS) – TOP-UP 1 year

If you have completed a foundation degree and are interested in making a difference in your community, this applied degree will help you develop a wider understanding of social welfare, social exclusion and disadvantage. In this top up year you will look at human and social needs, social justice and the policy and systems of service delivery. With a strength based practice ethos the course explores applied research and practice in community development are and social care.  You can choose from a wide range of modules to suit your interests and ambitions, including social enterprise, homelessness, race and ethnicity, mental health, social construction of gender, working with people with learning disabilities, disability studies, youth studies, social pedagogy, safeguarding and crime and society.

 

Community Leadership BA (HONS) – TOP-UP 1 year

Community activists: turn your Foundation Degree or other Level 5 qualification into a degree in just one year. You’ll explore community leadership, politics and governance, faith, gender and global society as part of a lively learning community, where like-minded individuals come together to share experiences and best practice. Good community leadership starts with good collaboration and team-working skills – this peer-led program is a great way to develop these and prepare for a rewarding career.

 

Community Leadership  FDA 2 years

This program – developed by community leaders, for community leaders – is designed to give people working at grass roots level the tools they need to make change happen. You’ll develop skills in leadership, project development and management, and find out how to fund and effectively manage action groups, so your community can take control of its own regeneration. The idea is that everything you learn, you pass on to your peer groups through mentoring – a cascade effect that sustainably improves the community for everyone. You’ll graduate fully prepared to lead your community – and it’s the perfect stepping stone to a further Honours degree.

 

Community Specialist Practitioner BSC (HONS) – Post-Registration 1 Year

Our BSc (Hons) Community Specialist Practitioner course is a top-up degree which has been developed to enable nurses to obtain a professional qualification in community nursing and an honors degree. The Community Specialist Practitioner course focuses on three areas of specialist practice: General Practice Nursing, Community Children’s Nursing and Community Nursing in the Home.
