The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems offers the following Master Programs:
Program Name
Computer Science (MSC)
Our MSc Computer Science provides a good grounding for working in the information technology industry. As well as gaining a broad knowledge of computing, you will acquire programming skills and have the opportunity to investigate certain areas of current research more deeply.
Computer Science (MRES)
Our MRes Computer Science is an advanced program offering a supervised research project. You also take a module on research methods in computer science and information systems, as well as three other taught modules.
By the time you have completed this program, you will have gained an in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of your chosen area of study, which you will be able to use in problem analysis, evaluation and application of technologies, and research into new technologies.
Data Science (MSC)
Funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), as part of an innovative initiative to fund conversion courses in computing and engineering, our MSc Data Science is designed for graduates who are new to computer science, providing an excellent grounding for working as a data scientist or analyst in industry. For those already working in IT, this intensive programme is an ideal opportunity to strengthen and update your knowledge and skills in the areas of data science and software engineering, while obtaining a formal Master’s qualification in this area of emerging importance.
Information Technology (MSC)
Our MSc Information Technology covers practical aspects of information systems development, modern management topics and professionalism in IT. If you already have experience of working in the IT industry, the program provides opportunities for broadening and deepening your knowledge and skills; if you do not have previous experience, it provides a platform for a career in the IT industry.
Computing for the Financial Services (MSC)
The MSc Computing for the Financial Services provides an intensive course specifically tailored for computer science graduates or graduates of related subjects with a substantial amount of programming who are interested in pursuing a career in financial services. As well as gaining a broad knowledge of the subject, you acquire practical skills and have the opportunity to investigate certain areas of current research more deeply.
Advanced Computing Technologies (MSC)
If you already work in the IT sector, or you intend to pursue a career in IT or a research degree, our MSc Advanced Computing Technologies is designed to advance your knowledge of advanced computing technologies, data science and data analytics. This specialized program will provide you with the skills to analyses problems in the evaluation and application of technologies, and in research into, and development of, new technologies.
Information Systems and Management (MSC)
Our MSc Information Systems and Management is designed for those with a degree in information systems, computing or management; or those with extensive experience in the use of information systems in organizations, or the management of IT.
