Forensic Computing and Security BSC (HONS)

Combine your interest in solving crimes with computing on this fascinating course which involves detecting, preserving and presenting evidence from computers and mobile devices. You’ll develop an understanding of hardware, operating systems and communications software, attention to detail, creative problem-solving and investigative skills and an appreciation of computer threats and counter-measures and relevant legal issues.

 

Forensic Computing and Security MCOMP 4 years

Combine your interest in solving crimes with computing on this fascinating course which involves detecting, preserving and presenting evidence from computers and mobile devices. You’ll develop an understanding of hardware, operating systems and communications software, attention to detail, creative problem-solving and investigative skills and an appreciation of computer threats and counter-measures and relevant legal issues. Forensic analysts require a high level of technical expertise, an understanding of computer-related crime, an appreciation of relevant law, a methodical approach to investigation, and the ability to explain complex technical ideas simply. The skills you will develop on this course can lead to careers in digital forensic analysis or in systems management and computer security.

 

Forensic Psychology BSC (HONS)

On our British Psychological Society-accredited Forensic Psychology degree, you’ll graduate with a broad understanding of the key topics related to working with offenders and victims of crime. You’ll have the opportunity to explore theories that explain offending behaviour, and apply this knowledge in interactive workshops run by professionals who actually work with offenders, including forensic psychologists and probation officers. Our Forensic Psychology team conduct world-class research and publish our findings internationally, whilst applying our work in real-life forensic settings; we then take a great deal of pleasure in teaching you the latest findings to advance your knowledge.

 

Forensic Science & Criminal Investigation BSC (HONS)

Thanks to our accreditation with the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and our close links to Lancashire and Greater Manchester constabularies, this course is a solid, widely respected route into the highly competitive field of forensic science and criminal investigation. Learning from former CSIs, you’ll develop a broad understanding of forensic science from a legal perspective and, in your second and third years, you could get the chance to work alongside local police CSI and scientific support teams. This course exceeds the National Occupational Standards for VSCI’s and CSI’s and several of our recent graduates have secured employment with local forces.

 

Forensic Science and Chemical Analysis MSCI 4 years

This course, accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, will give you a significant advantage when it comes to getting a job in this highly competitive field. The course is taught by experienced senior forensic scientists and CSIs as well as academics who are leaders in their field. It is an integrated master’s course, which means you will get all the training associated with a BSc degree with the distinct advantage of master’s level education in the area of analytical chemistry. You will study forensic investigation, processing crime scenes and analyzing evidence in the laboratory. You will cover aspects of forensic biology, forensic chemistry and forensic anthropology, ultimately specializing in forensic chemistry with an emphasis on the application of spectroscopic techniques in forensic science.

 

Forensic Science and Molecular Biology MSCI 4 years

As a forerunner in the country for forensic science, you’ll learn from former practicing forensic scientists and CSIs as well as academics who are leaders in their field. On this integrated masters course, you’ll get the level of training associated with a BSc degree but with integrated masters level modules, given you a depth of knowledge that will significantly improve your employability. You’ll study forensic investigation, forensic biology, forensic chemistry and forensic anthropology, ultimately specializing in forensic biology with an emphasis on the generation, interpretation and application of DNA evidence. Completion of the programs will leave you well placed for specialist employment in areas of forensic sciences, crime scene investigation, molecular biology or biotechnology.

 

Forensic Science BSC (HONS)
