The Department of Humanities offers the following Master Programs:
Applied Cultural Analysis 2 years
The program aims to develop and deepen students’ knowledge and skills within the field of applied cultural analysis. It emphasizes the use of ethnography and cultural analysis as a means of helping organizations and businesses as well as municipal and community-based actors to develop their services, products and public outreach programs. The program will strengthen students’ theoretical and methodological skills in anthropology-based ethnography while developing advanced understanding of different organizational contexts, as well as the demands these place on project management, communications and product development.
Archaeology – theory and practice 2 years
This program combines high scientific and theoretical standards with intensive practical training within Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Museology. You will be trained in how to excavate and document the past, how to preserve artefacts and buildings and how to communicate your findings and research results to a wider audience.

European Studies 2 years
The Master of Arts Program in European Studies (aka MAPES) is an interdisciplinary Master´s program with a unique perspective on Europe. The program specifically targets those who are interested in understanding Europe from a broader, humanist, point of view and who want to apply this perspective in careers related to European cultural and identity politics and Europe-wide communication. Our focus lies on culture, identity and communication, addressed with both theoretical sophistication and career pragmatism.
Human Rights Studies 2 years
This is a two-year Master’s program in the interdisciplinary field of human rights, with a profile within the humanities. The program combines historical, philosophical, political, and legal perspectives on the complex phenomenon that human rights represent in our world. We are committed to the view that human rights need to be regarded and studied not only as ethical principles or ground for law and policy, but also as part of the infrastructure of a democratic society.

The student can choose to specialize in Children’s and Adolescent, English, French, General, German, Russian, Spanish, or Yiddish literature, and in Scandinavian studies. There are theoretical courses, discussing aesthetic and cultural topics of a general nature, as well as courses focused on specific literary genres, themes or historical periods. Critical attention is also given to the many forms in which literature enters the media and the public arena in contemporary society. The final examination takes the form of a Master´s thesis.

About Program
The world is rapidly changing, thus offering new challenges for architecture. These challenges concern everything from densification of cities and sustainability to new technologies and how they affect the way we design and build. Lund University, located in the dynamic Copenhagen–Malmö region, is well known for its competence and knowledge, and offers superb resources for studying these matters in a broader context. The program combines best practice with advanced research, thus educating students to become highly skilled professionals who are competitive at an international level. Teaching contains both theoretical and hands-on projects aiming to find future-focused solutions to real-world issues. The program features international collaboration as well as locally active professionals. The process of working/learning consists of a mixture of workshops, critiques, tutorials with invited guests (both international and local) and longer projects that will be exhibited to a public audience.
The objectives of the Master’s program in Architecture are:
