The Department of Nursing offers the following Bachelor Programs:

 

Nursing – Post-Registration BSC (HONS) – TOP-UP 1 year

Our BSc (Hons) Nursing course explores; research and evidence based practice, organizational and team working, end of life care, health and chronic disease. This Nursing degree is available full time campus based for qualified nurses with a diploma or equivalent level of study, who wish to attain a degree in nursing. Students do not need to be in practice, but must be registered practitioners in their own country. You will engage with global nursing perspectives, different nursing cultures developing their personal skills in managing care in a changing world. Collaborative learning is encouraging.

 

 

Nursing Associate FDSC 2 years

The FdSc Nursing Associate two-year course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The course has been carefully co-designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes that will enable you to meet nursing proficiencies as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. These proficiencies are expected of nursing associates and will form the basis of your professional practice. You will have the opportunity to engage in skills development and simulated learning allowing you to practice the skills required of a Nursing Associate. It will also enable you to identify where you need to focus your personal and professional development plans.

 

Nursing with Registered Nurse (ADULT) BSC (HONS) – Pre-Registration

 

Learn how to safely and effectively deliver quality nursing care with one of the UK’s leading providers of health and social care education. After successfully completing this degree course, you’ll be a Registered Nurse, with all the skills and knowledge you need to make a real difference to people’s lives. The curriculum addresses National Benchmarks and is split between 50% theoretical study – including time spent in small groups with other students who’ve chosen the same field of nursing as you – and 50% practical clinical experience, working with a local NHS Trust on a variety of placements to build your confidence and develop the hands-on nursing skills you need.

 

Nursing with Registered Nurse (Children and Young People) BSC (HONS) – Pre-Registration

After successfully completing this degree course, you’ll be a Registered Nurse, with all the skills and knowledge you need to make a real difference to people’s lives. Nursing with Registered Nurse (Mental Health) BSC (HONS) – Pre-Registration

Learn how to safely and effectively deliver quality nursing care with one of the UK’s leading providers of health and social care education. After successfully completing this degree course, you’ll be a registered nurse, with all the skills and knowledge you need to make a real difference to people’s lives. The curriculum addresses national benchmarks and is split between 50% theoretical study – including time spent in small groups with other students who’ve chosen the same field of nursing as you – and 50% practical clinical experience, working with a local NHS Trust on a variety of placements to build your confidence and develop the hands-on nursing skills you need. Opportunities for an overseas clinical experience is available, subject to conditions.

 

Midwifery (Direct Entry Program) BSC (HONS) – Pre-Registration

Midwifery is a rewarding career and at the University of Central Lancashire, we aim to help you develop into a confident and competent Midwife, effectively supporting women and their families through pregnancy, birth and beyond.  Using a case based learning approach to your studies, you will be able to access research and evidence based guidance to support you in becoming an autonomous practitioner. The focus on the course is based on women and family centred care, where we will support you to develop all the skills needed to provide essential support, care and advice for women and their families. You will spend approximately 50% of your time in theory and 50% of your time in clinical practice, allowing you to put theory into practice, within a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout the course you will be supported by lecturers and clinical midwife mentors, who will support you through this challenging yet exciting course.

 

 

Midwifery: for Registered Nurses (ADULT) BSC (HONS) 2 years

This 20 month course transforms registered adult nurses into registered midwives. The program is designed to prepare to meet the needs of the childbearing population and the maternity services. You will have the privilege of helping women and families enjoy positive and healthy pregnancy and birth experiences.
