About Instituto Marangoni
Istituto Marangoni is the international fashion school par excellence, with four Schools in the most prestigious venues of international fashion. In Milan, the capital of Made in Italy, in Florence, where fashion, art and tradition meet, in Paris, the home of haute couture, in London, where trends are born and in Shanghai, where fashion is the future, Istituto Marangoni is able to offer different visions of the contemporary fashion system to its students. Istituto Marangoni is a school where the passion for fashion unites cultures, ideas and people from all over the world. Entering Istituto Marangoni means being part of a very special community, where fashion is the common denominator in all its most cosmopolitan aspects. The four sites of Istituto Marangoni are truly one of the most international student contexts in the world, with more than 4,000 students from 106 countries, each with infinite interests, styles, and knowledge. Attending this school is an experience of being immersed in fashion, learning and being enriched through contact with the most varied and interesting cultural realities. The new School of Art brings together, in one prestigious site, all the disciplines taught by Istituto Marangoni. The school is located in a historical building in via de’ Tornabuoni 17, in the core of the city, just a few steps away from Piazza S.Trinità and the museums of Gucci and Ferragamo. In addition to a range of long and short courses in fashion and design, the new Firenze school provides an intense programme of studies dedicated to art and encompassing History of Art, Art ‘Management’ and Visual Multimedia Art. The Florentine school is on the one hand characterised by the support of professors who are both professionals and highly specialized technicians in the ‘art of making’, and on the other by collaboration with an important French institution in the field of art teaching, the renowned Atelier de Sèvres (for Art courses). This completes the school’s innovative and prestigious profile.
Managers with both design and management skills are rare. Today companies recognize and acknowledge the way designers ‘think’ as a strategic asset; an alternative to traditional management methods and approaches toward company growth.
This unique one year course encourages creative strategic thinking, forming multidisciplinary profiles capable of working in areas of product development, operations, marketing, R&D, and brand strategy – the mastermind that is designer and manager.
For participants with previous undergraduate level study in either design, art, business, management or similar, this course covers multifaceted training in management models, business organization processes, project management, business strategy, design thinking, and leadership, providing all the necessary skills to successfully head-up and lead a department, or manage a company. It is increasingly important for designers to be involved in the development of new products and communication strategies.
Participants learn how to develop and apply innovative and creative management solutions to design-based projects focusing on 3 areas: business, design and research. They investigate the design process and learn the creative tools required to develop products and services within multidisciplinary, innovation-driven business contexts, understanding how their creative ‘design thinking’ approach can be integrated in project solutions, and advance a company’s strategic positioning and growth. Multidisciplinary projects explore management models, creativity and leadership, researching design and management processes in order to gain a greater understanding of operational difficulties. By analyzing complex problems participants learn how to develop problem-solving capabilities in individual and team lead projects.
