About Instituto Marangoni
Istituto Marangoni is the international fashion school par excellence, with four Schools in the most prestigious venues of international fashion. In Milan, the capital of Made in Italy, in Florence, where fashion, art and tradition meet, in Paris, the home of haute couture, in London, where trends are born and in Shanghai, where fashion is the future, Istituto Marangoni is able to offer different visions of the contemporary fashion system to its students. Istituto Marangoni is a school where the passion for fashion unites cultures, ideas and people from all over the world. Entering Istituto Marangoni means being part of a very special community, where fashion is the common denominator in all its most cosmopolitan aspects. The four sites of Istituto Marangoni are truly one of the most international student contexts in the world, with more than 4,000 students from 106 countries, each with infinite interests, styles, and knowledge. Attending this school is an experience of being immersed in fashion, learning and being enriched through contact with the most varied and interesting cultural realities. The new School of Art brings together, in one prestigious site, all the disciplines taught by Istituto Marangoni. The school is located in a historical building in via de’ Tornabuoni 17, in the core of the city, just a few steps away from Piazza S.Trinità and the museums of Gucci and Ferragamo. In addition to a range of long and short courses in fashion and design, the new Firenze school provides an intense programme of studies dedicated to art and encompassing History of Art, Art ‘Management’ and Visual Multimedia Art. The Florentine school is on the one hand characterised by the support of professors who are both professionals and highly specialized technicians in the ‘art of making’, and on the other by collaboration with an important French institution in the field of art teaching, the renowned Atelier de Sèvres (for Art courses). This completes the school’s innovative and prestigious profile.
Promoting what is fashionable and making products desirable is the work of the fashion promotion and communications expert. Fashion promoters define advertising campaigns and organize promotional activity through the most appropriate communication channels that reflect and represent the image of a brand, or luxury product. They organize presentations, events, fashion shows, exhibitions, conferences, press office and public relations activities, utilizing different methods of communication, media and marketing.
This 9-month course in Milan or Florence school or 15-month course (including placement) in London school trains participants in technical and theoretical notions needed to create a professional communication campaign through the study of fashion and luxury marketing management, public relations, social media and advertising. Understanding the connection between consumers, the product, and the markets in which they operate is key to producing a successful communication strategy. During the course participants learn how to anticipate and respond to developments in media and communication.
They explore the major theories and debates that dominate fashion promotion and evaluate different techniques applicable in creating and understanding the role of ‘image’ in fashion, as well as analysing historical and contemporary references. Particular emphasis is placed on public relations within fashion houses: from customer management to the identification of key industry players and celebrities, and from fashion show organization to the management of press days, conferences and events.
