About Instituto Marangoni
Istituto Marangoni is the international fashion school par excellence, with four Schools in the most prestigious venues of international fashion. In Milan, the capital of Made in Italy, in Florence, where fashion, art and tradition meet, in Paris, the home of haute couture, in London, where trends are born and in Shanghai, where fashion is the future, Istituto Marangoni is able to offer different visions of the contemporary fashion system to its students. Istituto Marangoni is a school where the passion for fashion unites cultures, ideas and people from all over the world. Entering Istituto Marangoni means being part of a very special community, where fashion is the common denominator in all its most cosmopolitan aspects. The four sites of Istituto Marangoni are truly one of the most international student contexts in the world, with more than 4,000 students from 106 countries, each with infinite interests, styles, and knowledge. Attending this school is an experience of being immersed in fashion, learning and being enriched through contact with the most varied and interesting cultural realities. The new School of Art brings together, in one prestigious site, all the disciplines taught by Istituto Marangoni. The school is located in a historical building in via de’ Tornabuoni 17, in the core of the city, just a few steps away from Piazza S.Trinità and the museums of Gucci and Ferragamo. In addition to a range of long and short courses in fashion and design, the new Firenze school provides an intense programme of studies dedicated to art and encompassing History of Art, Art ‘Management’ and Visual Multimedia Art. The Florentine school is on the one hand characterised by the support of professors who are both professionals and highly specialized technicians in the ‘art of making’, and on the other by collaboration with an important French institution in the field of art teaching, the renowned Atelier de Sèvres (for Art courses). This completes the school’s innovative and prestigious profile.
The history and evolution of interior design takes a look at the discipline as an art form and as a science in its ability to ‘transform’ space. Throughout the course focus is on interiors specific to the world of luxury where participants research and analyze the importance of brand identity, planning for retail spaces such as flagship stores, showrooms, trade fairs and exhibition spaces. ‘Real world’ experience in project development is achieved through collaborations with companies on industry projects, taking an idea from concept through to final presentation, as well as ‘signing-off’ the space upon completion. Covering different segments of the market participants receive professional feedback and guidance from the company throughout the project.
A final graduation showcase event gives the opportunity to further network and engage with industry professionals. They are encouraged to experiment with contemporary design, and consider new approaches in the industry that are evolving today, including influences in sound, scent, tactile features, ‘well-being’ design, sustainability and innovative new materials. Being able to develop, design, and present forward-thinking solutions for interior design projects, with a strong aesthetic awareness, opens up diverse career opportunities in contemporary architectural and interior design practices, and interior divisions in the fashion, luxury and creative industries.
