About Universitat Internacional de Catalunya
The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya officially began its academic activities in October 1997. Here you will find 16 degree programs, dual degree international programs and a wide range of master’s and postgraduate degrees, in addition to continuing education courses in the field of your choice. UIC Barcelona, as an organization dedicated to research and knowledge transfer, is involved in the task of seeking out, disseminating and applying ethical alternatives to the socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by today’s society. It is within this framework that UIC Barcelona is establishing a series of objectives to promote sustainability throughout the entire University Community, in the areas of Organization, Teaching and Research and Environmental Management. UIC Barcelona, as well as offering a good level of knowledge and university education, would like to provide a tool which facilitates incorporation into the labour market and/or access to other job opportunities for students. This application allows students to easily access various job offers and work placements and sign up for selection processes.
About Program
This official degree prepares architects, urban planners and other professionals to develop and rebuild communities affected by the ever-growing impact of climate change, military conflicts, rapid urbanization and economic crises in both developed and developing countries. The one-year program provides students with the necessary theoretical and methodological background in order to develop an interdisciplinary approach and manage projects in cooperation and sustainable development ranging from the urban to the architectural scale.
Internship
A 3-month mandatory internship at the end of the program provides the connections and experience needed to take the next step in your career. We have agreements with over 30 organizations around the world in all areas of development and emergency practices, including international institutions such as UN-Habitat, GWOPA and MSF, as well as smaller scale NGOs and research institutions such as BCNUEJ. The objective of the internship is to gain practical experience in the field of international cooperation and to develop the theoretical knowledge gained in the program. Students will become familiar with the various stages of project development and management in the field.
*The tuition includes the travel and accommodation costs for the international fieldtrip
